There's an interesting anomaly with temperatures I can't work out. Hobart City at 10.30pm was showing 4.0 while GFS (4pm run) forecast freezing level for 10pm is 850-900m, yet on Wundermap, Longley 253m is currently (10.50pm) showing 0.1C while Ferntree (434m) is showing 0.4C. Longley, which seems to report more often, is showing a neat little succession of dips as showers pass over, but its temp has been consistently in the 0 to 1 range since before 4pm. Both the Hobart temp and the Skew-T forecast temp from GFS say Longley's temp should be closer to 2.5 or 3, yet there's obviously some persistent factor keeping it well down that can't just be attributed to evaporative cooling in the passing showers. Something in the topography? Can anyone with local knowledge help?

The showers do get blocked on the range there at lower Longley and struggles to put showers to me at Leslie vale 7km away. All ways colder and more snow on the hills there.

temp here 0.9 degrees after falling to 0.5 degree and a max of 5.1 deg.

not sure we will see much more snow. may turn to wet snow as it falls overnight.

night. :D

SF: Any idea how much settled at the top of Vinces Saddle - remind me of the good 'ole days. Least today was a school day, might have missed class this morning.

Sorry to be late with the post, discovered I needed to re-register. First time it has snowed properly at my residence in 3 years, A bit depressing as it it rarely went this long between falls pre 2000.
